About Us
The Allen Place project converted the complex at the 1600 Block of East Kalamazoo Street in Lansing, Michigan into Allen Place, a comprehensive community space that provides 21 units of mixed-income housing along with commercial space, integrative services and programming.
The project is sponsored by the Allen Neighborhood Center (ANC), a 24-year old, place-based organization that serves as a non-profit hub for neighborhood revitalization and for activities that promote the health and well-being of Lansing's Eastside community and other stakeholders. Co-developer on the project is Cinnaire Solutions, the non-profit development arm of Cinnaire Corporation, headquartered in Lansing, Ml and with a 9-state presence.
The complex was constructed in stages, with the first section built in 1932. It has served as home to many small businesses over the years including the Allen Neighborhood Center and its award-winning Allen Farmers Market. In the past several years, most commercial tenants have moved out, leaving only Allen Neighborhood Center in the complex. In late 2018, ANC had the opportunity to purchase the complex from the long-standing out-of-state owner and immediately partnered with Cinnaire Solutions to create Allen Place.
